Before arriving in the centre of Antibes, how about stopping off at Fort Carr\u00e9<\/a>, <\/strong>one of the first fortified strongholds to be built in Renaissance. Discover its fascinating history, its rampart walk (43 metres above sea level that offers an incredible panoramic view), as well as the surrounding and protected 4 acre park and its abundance of Mediterranean plants.<\/h4>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

Next dive into the heart of Old Town Antibes via \u00ab the Marine door \u00bb: <\/strong>wander at leisure along the narrow cobbled streets to the Cathedral.<\/strong> At the top of the steps visit the medieval Ch\u00e2teau Grimaldi<\/strong> where \u00a0mus\u00e9e Picasso<\/strong><\/a> can be found, with its numerous masterpieces and artworks including paintings, drawings and ceramics, not to be missed.<\/h4>\n

Nearby you\u2019ll find the Proven\u00e7al market<\/strong> (covered market place), held every morning until 1pm. Afterwards stroll through the little shopping streets and discover the large number of boutiques and workshops proposing gourmet produce and local specialties.<\/h4>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

\"plageThen head to the phare de la Garoupe<\/strong> <\/a>(75 m above sea level). At the end of its 116 steps<\/strong> you can admire a breathtaking panorama. Sa chapelle<\/strong> Its restored chapel is also worth a visit.\u00a0 \u00ab\u00a0Le Bistrot du Cur\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb,<\/strong> a small caf\u00e9 serving local specialities (pan bagnat, Ni\u00e7ois stuffing, pissaladi\u00e8re) in the shade of the pine trees.<\/h4>\n

Alternatively you could opt for a lunch with your feet in the sand on the Garoupe beach,<\/strong> fabulous place for a swim (the private Keller Beach has sun loungers and parasols for rent).<\/h4>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The famous coastal path, Le sentier de Tire-poil<\/strong><\/a> is approx 5 kms long and takes about 2 hrs to walk (plan good walking shoes though; there are a lot of steps). You can find its start directly at the end of the beach. This little corner of paradise attracted the very wealthy from the mid-19 th century onwards and they constructed the most prestigious of residences here. You can perceive them along this stunning coastal trail.<\/h4>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
